It's... An outdated December playlist!
On this day, the 15th of January, of a new month, and ever a new year, I’m posting my December playlist. Start the year as you mean to continue, eh?
Well, yes actually. The reason I’ve been absent recently is in addition to now holding a full time internship at Edelman, Lia and I took a trip to Los Angeles at the beginning of the month. And when I have had free time, I’ve been writing pieces for my freelance gig, at Nextseed — ok, and playing FIFA 18 on my playstation. So the year is off to a solid start.
This playlist got slightly hijacked at one point by Xmas tunes, which is why I’ve been even less eager than usual to post it, but here are a few wintery songs I was feeling last month.
- Chance The Rapper released his remixed Christmas album with several new tracks. I didn't love it as much as the first iteration, but some of the songs were still great — better still, they were festive while also being overplayed. Like most Xmas music.
- When I saw Louis over Thanksgiving, he showed me some new music, and one of the tracks — Jungle, by Tash Sultana, who's basically an Aussie Jack Garrett — ended up being on the new FIFA soundtrack! Good jam.
- Most notably, Lia and I watched Big Little Lies in December, and what a fantastic show it is. Most impressive was the grade school daughter's music taste, which was on POINT. To be honest, I spent most of December listening to this soundtrack, but my highlights were the Charles Barkley numbers, a little Elvis, and of course, some good old Frank.
- Speaking of young female future music moguls, I got really into Billie Eilish this past month. She's only 16, born in 2001, which manages to make me feel old. She has a brilliant blend of electronic sound and sumptuous vocals though, and she's being tipped to have a big 2018. Get into her now.
Shorter playlist this month, because as I said, I spent most of it listening to a combination of Big Little Lies' soundtrack and Christmas songs. Feeling refreshed and ready to discover some new stuff in the new year though.
